Free Britney Griner! linoleum block print

UPDATE: BG IS FREE! Thanks to the efforts of so many people, activists, journalists, elected officials, negotiators, and more, Brittney Griner was freed via a prisoner exchange on December 9, 2022.

For those who forgot, back in February of 2022, Brittney Griner was arrested in Moscow as she was attempting to leave the country following the news of Russia’s declaration of war against Ukraine.

Brittney Griner has won championships at every stage of her career, in the U.S. and abroad. She has collected accolades and awards such as 8-time WNBA All-Star, 2-time Defensive Player of the Year, 2-time scoring leader, and 8-time blocks leader. Brittney Griner is one of the most dominant players in the world, she is one of the most beloved players in the world, and now she needs our help.

Even though BG is back home, living free, and playing basketball again, I will still be selling these prints, as a reminder to WNBA fans and to the world of BG’s incredible resilience. I’ll also still be donating 50% of the sale of each of these prints to One N Ten (https://onenten.org/), a Phoenix non-profit that provides resources to LGBTQ+ youth facing homelessness, trafficking, abuse, hunger, and medical needs. I hope this print will also serve as a reminder that though BG is free, there are many people of color, young and old, trapped in our unjust carceral system in the U.S. for minor offenses such as cannabis possession—some, on flimsy, nonexistent, or deliberately planted evidence. FREE THEM ALL!!!

These linoleum block prints were hand-pulled here in Chicago by yours truly. The print you receive will be this same image, with slight differences of inking coverage that is characteristic of the spontaneous printmaking process.
